3ADCO Tyre-Gards 3-Axel

REVIEW - ADCO Tyre Gards

I bought two three-axle white TYRE-GARDS about three years ago at Camper Clinic (CC) in Rockport, TX. I put them on my travel trailer which I leave here year-round. After the first year, substantial cracking of the vinyl material was evident and after the second year, many small dime-sized areas of the vinyl had cracked and flaked off. The vinyl material had become so rigid and fragile there was no way the covers could have been folded for storage without ruining them. At this point, the appearance of the covers was very poor but they still provided some protection from the elements. After three years of continuous exposure to the weather, numerous large areas of the vinyl (10 sq.in. or more) had peeled off and exposed the woven backing material. The vinyl material had become completely stiff and very brittle. As the covers were no longer usable, I decided to replace them. ADCO seems to be the only supplier of such covers, so I ordered two more from CC. When they arrived, one had the two brass grommets necessary to secure the cover onto the tires, but there were no grommets on the second cover. I returned it to CC and was promised they would reorder a new cover with grommets. A few days later I was informed by CC that ADCO had claimed although some of the covers had been supplied with grommets in the past, it was an error and not a standard part of the cover. Further he claimed that no tie-down of the covers was necessary as they fitted tightly over the wheels and would not blow off. I knew this claim was completely false since three years ago I had tried to use the covers without securing them to the tires with a piece of rope and a bungee cord, but they blew off in the first storm. CC`s explanation sounded very strange to me so I called ADCO Customer Service and, much to my surprise, was told the same story. The main reason for my surprise at their response is that the product description on the ADCO internet site for covers clearly states, "We offer multi-axle Tyre Gards in Polar White and Black. Save installation time by covering multiple tires at once. These come with rear grommets and are sold one per box." However, no amount of discussion with the ADCO customer service representative could sway him from his obviously unreasonable story about why the grommets had been left off the second cover. He finally agreed to send me a couple of plastic, customer-installed grommets, apparently just to get me off the phone. It seems nowadays more and more customer service representatives believe their main function is to simply tell the customer any kind of story just to get rid of them without having a formal complaint filed. Thus, based on my experience with ADCO, I can not recommend any of their products, especially their TYRE-GARD covers because of their rapid deterioration. However, if you decide to purchase ADCO tire covers, be sure to save the three-ye ar warranty information and be prepared to return the covers after two years, assuming they deteriorate as rapidly as did my original covers. Secondly, shame on Camper Clinic for blindly accepting ADCO's lame excuse for providing a faulty product. Unless Camper Clinic stands up for their customers against manufacturers who provide shoddy merchandise, they are no better in the eyes of the consumer than are the manufacturers - and guess what Camper Clinic, you get to take all of the guff from unhappy end-users.

5ADCO Tyre Gards
By Andy Shed
The tire covers appear to be good quality, are attractive, and are easy to install. They arrived quickly and customer service answered by questions courteously. I would definately do business with them again.
